High energy prices, climate change and the increasing scarcity of fossil fuels means that many of us are becoming increasingly concerned about the financial and environmental cost of heating our homes. At SK, we are helping people make the switch to a more energy efficient lifestyle by looking into alternative methods of heating our homes, providing hot water and generating electricity. |
Heat Pump Systems - why should you install one? |
In simple terms, today’s technologically advanced heat pumps can save you energy and money. Air source and ground source heat pumps heat your home by absorbing energy from the air or ground. This heat can then be used to provide hot water for radiators, underfloor heating or simply warm or cool the air in your home. |
Heat pumps are clever, flexible and highly energy efficient. For example, with a conventional boiler; one kw of energy in gives less than 1 kw of heat to the building. With a typical electrically driven heat pump, one kilowatt of energy in gives a heat output of between 2.5 – 5.0 kW. This ratio is know as the Coefficient of Performance (COP). |
This technology is already well known in countries such as Sweden and Switzerland. For example, an air source heat pump can extract heat from the air even when the outside temperature is as low as minus 15C. |

Air Conditioning |
Having a home that is healthy and comfortable – warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer is easy when you have the right heating and cooling products on your side. At SK we can help you select the right air conditioning/heat pump units to suit your home. These modern, energy efficient units can provide instant cooling or heating all year round for your bedroom, lounge, office or conservatory. |
Solar Hot Water |
With emphasis on renewable and sustainable energy, it makes sense to utilise the free energy generated by the sun. Discrete solar panels combined with a cylinder, will provide an abundant supply of hot water for your home. |
Photovoltaic Systems (PV) |
A PV system comprises slim line solar panel energy collectors, fitted discretely on your roof structure. These PV
solar panels generate electricity for your home, and excess energy can be resold back to the National Grid. |
Ventilation |
Specialists in the design and installation of fresh air and extract ducting, providing energy efficient ventilation solutions for your home. The duct work can be manufactured from galvanised steel or supplied and fitted with the latest fabric ‘sock’ system. |
